The Hunterdon Sailing Club is proud to welcome you to the 2018 Force 5 North American Championship on our home waters at Spruce Run Reservoir in Clinton, New Jersey on July 19th through the 21st.. A practice day is scheduled on July 18th so please arrive early. Our goal is to foster friendly competition and capture the fun and excitement associated with Force 5 sailing. We have a full agenda planned for racing, picnics, dinners, pig roast and awards for this event!

Eligibility:

The regatta is open to all members of the Force 5 Class Association in good standing at the time of the regatta. FFCA members may sponsor a guest as noted below.

Rules:

The North American Championship will be governed by the rules as defined in “The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 – 2020”, including US Sailing Prescriptions and the Class Rules of the Force 5 Class Association except as any of these are modified by the Sailing Instructions. Sailing Instructions will be posted by March 1, 2018

Registration and Fee:

FFCA members: $140. Non-Member Guests: $155

Late fee after June 30, 2018: $155

Registration includes: All sailing activities and supervision, breakfast 2 days, lunch 3 days, dinner 2 days, competitor shirt and awards. Registration will be available no later than March 1, 2018 through “Regatta Networks.” Notification of Regatta Network’s availability to register for this event will be provided through the FFCA web page and through email to all FFCA fleet captains. Please register in advance online. You can pay via credit card, PayPal, or print a copy of your registration and pay at Hunterdon Sailing Club when you arrive. Advance registration will greatly assist us preparing for the regatta.

General Information:

Spruce Run Reservoir is located in Hunterdon County, one of the oldest counties in the country, established in the year 1714.  The Hunterdon Sailing Club is celebrating 54 years, established with the formation of the Spruce Run Reservoir 1964.  This year we have more than 130 member-families participating in club activities such as sail training, weekly fleet racing, family sailing outings, and fleet regattas. HSC is the home of FFCA Fleet #36 with 15 active fleet members.

Park Entry Fees – The entry fee for the FFCA 2018 North American Championship will include the park entry fee for the race days of July 19th through the 21st. We will do our best to minimize or avoid these fees for practice day, July 18th.  If you are camping at Spruce Run Sate Park, Park entry is included in your camping fee.

Schedule of events for the 2018 FFCA NAC:


· July 18th Pre-Event Arrival & Practice Day – Meet at HSC in the afternoon.

o Noon+++ - Casual arrival, pre-registration and orientation at HSC.

o 2:00 PM+ – Approximate time for Practice Races. Actual time TBD by RC.

o Evening – On you own for dinner and/or join the HSC Wednesday night Sunfish racing team for pizza and beer at the Tuscany Grill (Rt 31 & Van Syckels Rd.)

· July 19th – Welcome and Registration and Racing.

o 9:30 – 11:00 AM – Force 5 Registration, Brunch, Measuring and Rigging

o 11:00 AM – Skippers Meeting.

o Noon – First Gun for Force 5 North American Championship. The number of races TBD by the weather. We will plan to conclude racing before 5pm.

o 6:30 PM – Reception at Riley and Jakes Tavern. Daily Results Posted.

o 7:00 PM – FFCA Meeting at Riley and Jakes.

o 7:30 PM – Dinner is Served! Riley and Jake’s Tavern is on Rt. 31, on the East side of Spruce Run Reservoir.  The restaurant is a 5 minute drive from the front gate of SRR. The cost of dinner is included for race participants and there will be a cash bar.  Additional friends and family may participate for $25.

· July 20th – Full Day of FFCA Racing.

o 8:30 AM - Continental Breakfast and Rigging

o 9:30 AM – Skippers Meeting

o 10:30 AM – First Gun. The number of races TBD by the weather.

o 1:00 PM – Approximate time for Lunch Ashore. Actual time TBD by RC Chair.

o 5:00 PM – Conclude racing – All Ashore.

o 6:00 PM+ – Pig Roast and Reception at Doug and Susan’s house. Daily results will be posted and dinner will be served at 7:00 PM. Silent Auction and Raffles will be awarded. The cost of the Pig Roast BBQ is included in the NAC entry fee. Please see Jay Halsted for additional participants.

· July 21st – FFCA Racing with the Awards and Picnic

o 8:30 AM – Continental Breakfast and Rigging

o 9:30 AM – Skippers Meeting

o First Gun. The number of races TBD by the weather.

o 2:00 PM – Conclude racing, Late lunch cookout on the barbie.

o 3:00 PM – Awards Presentation and concluding remarks by FFCA President.

The Hunterdon Sailing Club Executive Team and the members of Force 5 Fleet 36 look forward to your participation in a fun and competitive FFCA North American Championship event here on Spruce Run Reservoir.

Sailing Instructions, local lodging, Regatta Network registration and other information will be provided no later than March 1st on the FFCA Website.
