Races will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, prescriptions of US Sailing, Rules of the Force 5 Class Association and the Sailing Instructions.  Advertising will be restricted to Category A.

The Entry Fee for each Series shall be $43, or $68 for both series.  US Sailing members shall receive a $3 discount.  Non-TYC member guests shall pay $10 on each racing day if not entered for a whole series.  Payment shall be made to a race official.  The series is open to all owners/charterers of any Force 5 boat.  Membership in Thames YC not required.  A skipper who has not paid the entry fee will not be scored.

There will be two racing series.  Races for Spring Series will be on May 30, June 6, 13, 20, 27, and July11. Summer Series races will be July 18 and 25 and August 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.  First Warning will be 1800 each day.

Sailing Instructions will be available prior to the first race on May 30 and continuously thereafter posted on the Race Information Bulletin Board.

Courses will be determined by the Race Committee each day, and will be displayed on the race committee vessel “Queen Merry”. Marks are as stipulated on the Course Marks and Symbols Chart. Special Marks will be stipulated in the Sailing Instructions. Starting line will be to the east of the “Queen Merry”, off the TYC Clubhouse. The finish line shall be the same as the starting line unless the course is shortened.

Scoring for each series will be in accordance with the Low Point System of RRS, Appendix A.  To constitute a series, a minimum of 15 races must be completed.  To qualify for Series standing a skipper must start at least sixty per cent (60%) of races held.

For each Series with at least 5 entrants, prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place boats.  Additionally, prizes will be awarded for combined standings for boats which have qualified in both series. Prizes will be awarded at Skippers’ Night in November.

Skippers entered in the Force 5 Thursday Night Series must staff the RC for at least one evening during each series.  The boat assigned to RC will not participate in that race, but will be scored an average of their other series points for those races.  Boats failing to meet these requirements will be disqualified and the penalty score will not be excluded from the series totals.  Boats participating in either series which have not signed up for a RC date by the third week of the series will be assigned a date.

Competitors participate entirely at their own risk.  See Rule 4, Decision to Race.  The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the series.
