boom height change?

boom height change?

Hello.  This is my first post.  I'm not a Force 5 racer, but rather an 8-10 time a summer enthusiast.  I say this because I'm not worried about making some changes and disqualifying myself from any racing possibility.  My goal is to make my boat easier to sail with less nimble sailing partners who have trouble getting under and past the boom.  I have already purchased the F5 Junior sail from Intensity, and would not hesitate to make changes to this $100 sail that has no F5 decoration and crinkles like a bag of chips.  Anyway,  I'm asking this forum for advice on raising the boom height.  If I raised the gooseneck position and shortened the sail by cutting off some of the head, would it make the boat sail strange?  I know it would have less power.  Are there other suggestions?  Has someone already done something like this?
