Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

It is exciting to be in the top 10 at a national event. Lucky 7 of us registered so far. I think our record for this event is 40. Chris buys a beer for everyone who registers before 12/31/18. That should get our numbers way up! I look forward to seeing all of you in Key Largo. As even Atlanta has finally turned cool/cold, heading south is looking wonderful. Please support Tom Trump and UKSC and register early so they will know to plan for 10, 20 or 30 boats. Cheers! coldnosedave

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

If we limit the regatta to the first 25 boats, would people register faster? Just curious.... Having run several regattas, it is always a challenge to get people to register early and help planning. Knowing 60 days out within 10% your participation makes everything less chaotic.

To those of you who may have a "new to you" Force5, there is no better way to celebrate the work you have done making her yours than to
Treat yourselves! -  this IS the place to get to know everyone.
Ask around, there are condos that folks share to get the costs down.
Also, the long drive is an enjoyable journey. It is so cool (pun) getting out to gas the car and finding it warmer every time.
Key Largo feels worlds away.

Okay, we are up to 23!!! Who is going to help push us over 25. The winter storms over the last week should have convinced everyone to get out of cold for a week.

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

Couple items -- to all that have paid dues I will have your lovely transom stickers with me at the event.   To those that haven't paid there dues and registered as senior members (and aren't even close)  I won't have your stickers, lovely or other wise...….
Any one else can bring a dues check to midwinters or go to the membeship page and pay by pay pal.

Thank you!
See you in 3 weeks or there abouts.

Where do we define Seniors and what is the definition? Asking for a friend.

BUT WAIT…THERE’S MORE!  Actually just wanted to make sure you knew that non-voting memberships are FREE for Juniors (under 18); Seniors (80 plus) and for a Family member of a Regular (paid) member.

If you look under the new/renew membership tab the second paragraph reads exactly  what I copy and pasted above, Dennis.

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if there are any boats to potentially use at UKSC? I've been hunting for a Force 5 since the new year to purchase and I have exhausted all potential leads in hopes of attending Midwinters. I'd surely highly consider coming if there were any available for use/charter. Any help or insight welcome in attending Midwinters and/or just purchasing a boat in general. Thanks all.

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

I'd bet that there's a boat available somewhere.  You might try to get hold of Tom Trump to see if there's one "floating around" at UKSC.  Has I known sooner, I could have piled a fourth boat onto my stack-'em trailer, but it needs some modification before I'm comfortable doing that.  Also check craigslist (hit the button on the homepage).  Boats start popping into there this time of year.

Hope you can make it.    smile

There's a boat in Ft Myers.  Looks decent for the money ($700).  https://sarasota.craigslist.org/boa/d/p … 69269.html     Might be right on your way to some degree.    smile

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

Hi dkinzer (sorry I don’t know your name),

Thanks for the replies. Chris helped me to connect to Tom Trump to ask if any boats were available. I’m still awaiting a reply back about that. Also, I saw that boat too. However, some of the photos look almost photoshopped to me and I’m truthfully weary of driving that far for something I’m not completely sold on. I’ve kept my eyes peeled on Craigslist and will continue to do so. Thanks, I’m hoping to make it too if it works out.

Re: 2019 Midwinters - Registration is Open

Chris & Co.,

I am incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to attend now after confirming the usage of Brian Hatfield's boat. Registered and set to go. Looking forward to being there and trying out this whole Force 5 thing. Safe travels to all. My wife and I will be getting in likely late Wednesday. Thanks.

We hit 35! Can we get this past 40? If you are still on the fence, look at the weather forecast for Key Largo!

At 36 now! Going to be a great event. Look for updates on the Facebook Page, Twitter and Instagram. Scores will be posted on the Regatta Network site.

There may even be some live feeds going on during the event.
